Hiring Leconfield Hall
Leconfield Hall, in the middle of the historic market town of Petworth, is suitable for private and public events, sales, concerts, presentations, parties as well as private film screenings - featuring a film from our programme or one of your own choosing. Upstairs is a well equipped arts centre. Downstairs can provide one big area for sales, exhibitions and meetings, or can be divided to provide a green room, or smaller committee rooms.
The Hall is well maintained and equipped, with the multi purpose area downstairs and a large auditorium with raked seating, theatre lighting, gallery, stage, double windows giving good insulation from traffic noise and a sprung dance floor upstairs. There is Wi Fi, an upright electronic piano is available and there is a state-of-the-art projector and sound system for film screenings or for computer, video and DVD based presentations. There is a kitchen with all necessary equipment including a dishwasher and a hot cupboard. The Hall has a lift and full access for the disabled. There is also a hearing loop system on both floors.
Upper Hall: The maximum licensed capacity is 160 for public performance of plays (138 for film shows). When used for dancing only or functions (not plays) for closely seated groups it is 188. When used for functions with seating at tables the capacity is 94. For events with the raked seating out the capacity is 144 without the mobile bar. If the mobile bar is in place then the number is 130.
Lower Hall: Capacity is maximum 120 people, or circa 70 seated. IMPORTANT: The maximum number permitted in the Leconfield Hall at any one time, whether upstairs or downstairs or a combination of them is 188.
The Leconfield Hall was built in 1793 and is a registered charity (No.1167354). It is a superb venue in the centre of Petworth with the A272 and A283 running through the town and providing passing trade. There is ample parking in Petworth with a large car park a few minutes walk away and some spaces outside the Hall. All buses serving Petworth stop at the door.
